The Traffic Safety Court of Saskatchewan Act, 1988
The Traffic Safety Court of Saskatchewan has jurisdiction with respect to traffic offences in Regina and Saskatoon. However, bylaws that regulate parking are not within the Court's jurisdiction.
The Court consists of justices of the peace who are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council to hold office as traffic justices.
The Justices of the Peace Review Council established under The Justices of the Peace Act, 1988 is responsible for reviewing complaints and taking any disciplinary action against traffic justices.
Complaints against a traffic justice with respect to misconduct, neglect of duty or inability to perform his or her duties are reviewed by the Council. The Council has the power to investigate complaints and to hold an inquiry to determine if a traffic justice should be removed from office, reprimanded or suspended.
