This three day workshop is an opportunity to improve one's skills in dealing with conflict as a participant or a third party in a problem solving process. Resolving Conflict Constructively is a pre-requisite for both the Leading By Example and Introduction to Mediation modules. The course will include large and small group discussions. One of the highlights of this session is the opportunity to practice skills in role play settings. Included in the workshop are the following topics: 

• Conflict theory - how people traditionally deal with conflict; 
• Introduction to interests and needs - what is important to people, what they are trying to accomplish, what are the motivations behind the positions people take;
• Communication skills - including active listening, questioning techniques, and reframing; 
• How to raise issues constructively; 
• A model for an interest-based approach to problem solving

Courses will be offered subject to adequate enrolment. Enrolment for these courses is limited. We require three weeks notice, in case of cancellation. You may be charged a cancellation fee, unless you find a replacement. The cancellation fee is determined by the cost of the course, less $100.
