The Public Inquiries Act

Under The Public Inquiries Act, one or more commissioners of inquiry may be appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

An inquiry may be ordered:

• when the inquiry is within the jurisdiction of the Legislature and connected with the good government of Saskatchewan; or
• when the matter is of sufficient public importance.

Commissioners have the power to:

• summon witnesses;
• require them to give evidence; and
• require them to produce documents.
