In every case notice must be in writing and include:

  • the date;
  • the name of the party giving notice;
  • the address of the rental unit;
  • the effective date of the end of tenancy; and
  • if given by the landlord, the grounds for ending the tenancy. 

The most common tenancy is month to month. To end a tenancy at the end of any month means that notice must be delivered during the prior month.

If notice is not delivered in proper time, it becomes effective at the end of the next possible period.
