The Law Reform Commission Act

The Law Reform Commission Act establishes the Law Reform Commission. The purposes of the Commission are to:

• promote the reform, clarification and simplification of the law, and its adaptation to modern social needs;
• promote improvement of the administration of justice and respect for the rule of law; and
• promote and carry out legal research.

The Commission is composed of at least three members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. It may hire employees, legal counsel and other consultants as it considers necessary to carry out its responsibilities.
