The Consumer and Commercial Affairs Act

The Department of Consumer and Commercial Affairs was disestablished January 1, 1991. Its functions with respect to The Consumer and Commercial Affairs Act were transferred to Saskatchewan Justice.

The Act's mandate authorizes the Minister of Justice to:

• supervise consumer and commercial affairs in general;
• investigate complaints respecting alleged contraventions of consumer and commercial affairs legislation, such as The Direct Sellers Act, or respecting practices alleged to be contrary to the interests of consumers;
• provide resources and educational programs to consumers; and
• inspect and examine the affairs of co-operatives.
